Forever 17: Meet Crystal by Crystal M.

In 2024, my 17-year-old son, Santino, passed away unexpectedly from sudden cardiac arrest in his sleep while staying at his girlfriend's house. He was supposed to come home that day, but instead, at 7:45 that morning, our lives changed forever.

There were no warning signs. Santino never complained of feeling sick. He was healthy, active, full of life, and had so much ahead of him. Even now, it is hard to believe he is gone. It feels like he was ripped away from us without any explanation.

His autopsy showed that everything was immaculate. His toxicology report was completely clear, with nothing in his system. In the end, his death certificate was listed as "undetermined," with sudden cardiac arrest.

No family should have to experience this kind of loss. Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any age, at any time—even to someone who appears perfectly healthy.

If sharing Santino's story encourages even one person to schedule a heart checkup or learn the warning signs, then his story may help save a life. Please don't assume it can't happen to you or someone you love. Consider getting your heart checked. It could make all the difference.

 Forever loved. Forever 17. ❤️
