Mary had a heart attack in February 2021 and shares her story to help others.

On February 15, I was home with my grandson and I suffered a Heart Attack. I was taken by paramedic to a hospital. When the paramedic arrived, I was asked what my symptoms were and I explained and one of them said it sounded more like acid reflux. I expressed to her that it was more severe. She insisted that it was only that. After arriving at the hospital, I was put in a room and laid there for over an hour before medical assistance. I asked for help twice before being taken for a test. After arriving back from the x-ray, I was then told that I was going to be admitted. Then, I was transferred to another hospital to do the surgery on my heart called a cardiac catheterization where they placed a drug-eluting stent in one of the vessels of my heart. After the heart attack, I was evaluated with an echocardiogram which showed a decreased ejection fraction. On February 19, I was discharged with a life vest which is for correction of abnormal heart rhythm should it occur.

Please seek medical assistant ASAP if you are experiencing any chest pains, I did and was told that everything was ok. Don't stop keep seeking help. I am so thankful for my grandson, Pearson, he is eight years old and his quick thinking save my life. I love him with all my heart ❤️
